A drive to Yarra Valley

Do you like savoury breakfast or something on the sweet side? Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery has got you covered if you still can’t decide what to have. Have some waffles or maybe eggs and bacon. Just remember to try their significant hot chocolate to go with whatever you order.

Although I do have to admit that the only thing I loved about this place was the view. I was hoping maybe a tour of the factory, different type of service, chocolate related decoration or just outstanding chocolate dishes. The place itself is over commercialized and nothing personal. I felt there was nothing extraordinary about this place other than the stunning view.

Tarra Warra Museum of Art on the other hand… I was blown away as soon as we came across a curved concrete walk way entrance. It felt like we were walking into some fairy tale castle. Not only the view was spectacular, the building itself was magnificent. I just couldn’t get enough of the artistic vibe it provides.

If you are up for a fancy lunch, Stones of the Yarra Valley is the place. There are three dining choices you may choose. You can have food at The Barn where they only serve two course set menu at $60 per person or three course at $75. High-end tapas is your cup of tea? The Stables can satisfy you where they serve tapas banquet at $55 per person. If you are after individual meals with quality produce, The Meletos’ Café is your place.

These three restaurants are all under the same owner, and are only 5 minutes walk away from each other. The place provides an astonishing view, high-class service yet an extremely welcoming environment.

P.S
Drop by Yarra Valley Dairy if you heart goat cheese. Bear in mind, it is a small café and it tends to be quite busy over the weekend. I personally thought it wasn’t anything dazzling. I would have enjoyed it more if they had more tasting samples and a more welcoming service.

Fancy lunch isn’t what you are after? The Yarra Glen Grand Hotel has got your back! Delicious food, reasonable price and a generous proportion of food. Pub food and service at its best.

Steavensons Falls should be your next destination if you are unsure where to go after lunch. It is about an hour drive from The Yarra Glen Grand Hotel. A beautiful scenic drive for sure. Please note that the temperature will drop once you get to Steavensons Falls.

It is only 15 minutes (or less) walk from Steavensons Falls car park to the waterfall itself. Keep on driving when you have entered Falls Road. You might see many cars parked on the side on the way and wondering if you should do the same. NO! There is an actual car park at the very top.

On the day we went it wasn’t raining, however the muddy path wasn’t dry from the previous day. If you are not up for dirtying your shoes, I don’t suggest you walk the trail walk up to the very top of Steavensons Falls. (it takes about 15 minutes walking time; return from the bottom of the waterfall) The view from the bottom is much better than the view from the top. Who would have known!

Yarra Ranges is when visiting Victoria State. There are many wineries, food produces and nature walks. Because there is so much one can do in a day, I suggest doing a private tour. Visit Wine Compass for a memorable trip, specially tailored to your liking. Or if you prefer doing a scenic drive yourself, do your research before your weekend getaway, visit here for more info.
